|For:||It's what you make it. Can go there to picnic or rock-climb. The trail itself can be measured in yards.|
West Camino Cielo Road offers hiking trails that are different from the usual Santa Barbara fare. Situated on the crest of the Santa Ynez Mountains looking over the city of Goleta, these trails are shorter and have different goals than the front country trails above Santa Barbara. These trails are not maintained except by the people who use them. Please do the same if you use them.
Lizard's Mouth is an easy 1/4 mile walk to some rock outcroppings where one can explore, go bouldering, watch the sunset, or just sit and look at the sweeping view of Goleta and the ocean.
Careful of broken glass. This is also one of those high school kid party-hangouts.

The first part of the trail is poorly defined. People walk all over the area creating numerous looping side trails. Once you hit the bolder field there is no trail at all. Lizards Mouth is a rock formation to your right. It faces away from the trail so you cannot see it until you climb over the rise to your right. The trail is short, but requires agility to navigate the bolder field.
