Frontcountry Hikes
The front country is the region that most people think of when they decide to take a hike in Santa Barbara: The south-facing slopes of the Santa Ynez Mountains. These are the most favorite of Santa Barbara's trails. Also included are hikes that are generally considered popular and not too remote.
Beach Hikes
Beach hikes are hikes you can take along Santa Barbara's beaches or cliffs. Some of these hikes are pretty strenuous and require a careful attention to the incoming tide.
Wilderness Hikes
Santa Barbara is not far from designated wilderness. The trails listed here are good starting points for planning a backpacking trip. It is up to you how far you decide to go. Many of these trails are also suitable for day hiking.
